    - December 1, 2014: The University of Vienna announces a media campaign for the celebration of its 650th anniversary in 2015. Nuno Maulide is selected among a small number of researchers (and is the only chemist) for a special initiative: presenting the research questions of each scientist in understandable terms for the public at large.     December 1, 2014: Danny Geerdink finishes his Post-Doctoral stay with us and moves on to a job at BASF. Farewell, Danny!

    November 30, 2014: Nuno Maulide shows up in the media again - this time an interview for Biber Magazin, portrayed together with Eser Ari-Akbaba, the well-known (in Austria) "Weather Woman" of the national television channel ORF. Read here.

    November 25, 2014: The University of Vienna issues a Press Release on our collaborative Hot Paper about beta-lactam synthesis!

    November 20, 2014: Daniel Kaiser receives the prestigious DOC scholarship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences to support his Ph.D. thesis!

    November 19, 2014: Nuno Maulide gives a concert at the Centennial celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung. The event results in more than 850 Euro being collected in donations for UNICEF.

    November 16, 2014: We are portrayed in the national television program "Wien Heute" due to the "Wiener Mut" award. An entertaining video about Chemistry, Integration and Music. See it here!

    October 21, 2014: Nuno Maulide and the Maulide Group are the winners of the "Wiener Mut" Prize in the Category: Science! What a wonderful welcome from the City of Vienna, 1 year after our arrival. Read here about the prize here, see photos of the event here

    October 11, 2014: Our collaborative paper with the Afonso group (Lisbon) is accepted as a VIP article in Chemistry - a European Journal!

    October 10, 2014: Caroline Souris becomes our first Ph.D. to graduate in Vienna (and #3 overall!). Congratulations, Dr. Souris!
    On the same day, Joongsuk Oh finishes his internship with us and returns to Sungkyunkwan University to finish his doctoral studies.

    October 2, 2014: The group welcomes two new members: Rik Oost (University of Groningen, Netherlands) returns to us for Ph.D. studies after his internship earlier and Dr. Anais Jolit (UHawaii at Manoa, USA) joins as the first new Post-Doc!

    October 1, 2014: The group celebrates 1 year in Vienna with cake and champagne. Happy birthday to you! :)

    September 10, 2014: The group welcomes a new Ph.D. student, Yong Chen (Nankai University, China)!

    August 16, 2014: The group welcomes our new exchange Ph.D. student, Joongsuk Oh (Sungkyunkwan University, S. Korea)! He will be staying with us for the next 2 months.

    July 23, 2014: Good news come from the FWF as our first grant proposal is accepted for funding: time to pop the corks!

    July 1, 2014: The group says farewell to Svilen Simeonov, who returns to the Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa to finish his Ph.D. studies.

    June 30, 2014: Our Angewandte paper is selected for an inside back cover. See it more in detail here!

    June 27, 2014: Our Chemistry - A European Journal paper on gold-catalysed cyclopropanation of allenes is online!

    May 29, 2014: Our Angewandte paper on unusual ligand effects in Pd-catalysis is now online!

    May 23, 2014: Two new publications for the group ensure that we surpass paper # 50. May the next 50 come as quickly!

    May 17, 2014: Nuno Maulide participates in a Science-mixer event of the University: Science & Drinks is featured in the national newspaper Der Kurier!
    Clicking on the links you can see Nuno giving his talk, playing the piano solo, with a spontaneous singer and even an impromptu 4-hands with the Rector of the University of Vienna.

    April 17, 2014: Nuno Maulide appears on Austrian radio! Listen here to his contribution on the 60-minute ORF show "Im Gespräch", together with Prof. Dr. Helga Nowotny (former President of the ERC) and the moderator Mag. Renata Schmidkunz.

    April 16, 2014: Our VIP Angewandte article is now online! Read all about how you can alpha-arylate an amide without affecting an ester or even a ketone.

    April 2, 2014: The group says farewell to Rik Oost, who returns to the University of Groningen to finish his M.Sc. studies. Rik will, however, come back to Vienna in Autumn this year to start his Ph.D. in our group!

    Simultaneously, we welcome our new exchange Ph.D. student, Svilen Simeonov!

  • April 1, 2014: Angewandte Chemie publishes an Author Profile with Nuno Maulide highlighting our group publishing more than 10 papers in the journal since 2010. All the group members, past and present should be congratulated by this milestone achievement!
  • March 26, 2014: Our paper on unusual ligand effects in Pd-catalysis is accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie!

    March 7, 2014: A new publication is accepted in Angewandte Chemie. This paper on direct amide arylation is selected by the Editorial Office of Angewandte Chemie as a VIP (Very Important Paper) Article!

    March 4, 2014: The University Homepage highlights our Angewandte paper! Read all about "the chemical reaction that does not waste any atoms" here.

    January 31, 2014: Our accepted publication in Angewandte on Redox-Neutral Arylation is selected as a Highly Important Paper (HIP) by the Editorial Office.

    January 31, 2014: The departure of Dr. Daniel O'Donovan (to Oxford), following that of Dr. Bo Peng (to Chicago) signals the closing of the Maulide Group @Mülheim. We wish Daniel and Bo all the best and hope to stay in touch!
    All our current group members are now located @University of Vienna.

    January 30, 2014: Nuno Maulide returns from the first lecture tour since moving to Vienna: consecutive talks in London, Basel, Strasbourg and a visit "across the river" to our colleagues at the TU Wien.

    January 10, 2014: Our first publication submitted from Vienna has been accepted in Angewandte Chemie. Congratulations!

  • January 09, 2014: The Maulide Group is invited to a cocktail reception at the City Hall (Rathaus), hosted by the Mayor and Governor of the City of Vienna! This is a reception for International Scientists working in Vienna and neatly showcases the appreciation that the city has for its foreign scientists.

  • January 1, 2014: A new Ph.D. student joins the group. Daniel Kaiser is the first student originating from the University of Vienna to join the team (hopefully the first of many!). Welcome to the Maulide group!
